TEXTS
September 5th - October 4th, 2020
Yet again, the importance of the written word on social media has proved to be one of the most useful tools for information sharing, community organizing, critical analysis, etc. - for many in COVID-related isolation, it became a primary means of connecting to other people. For those organizing in the uprising against white supremacy, words remain a central tool in gathering people, resources, and speaking out.
For this show, haul gallery has invited a group of artists and writers to show in the gallery. They provided haul with text-based artworks, writings, and instructions for display. The coordination was done (for the most part) remotely.
TEXTS is an ode to the written and spoken word. It provides a dedicated physical space for viewers/readers to enjoy these gathered writings one at a time, and to take these words with them after leaving the gallery.
