Pat McNabb & Corinna D’Schoto
August 7 - September 5, 2021
()
is a two-person show with Pat McNabb & Corinna D’Schoto. This is their first exhibition together, culminating from a year-long collaboration.
In their own words, the artists describe the show “as a project we have acted out as a sharing, a holding, and as a form of call and response collaboration.”
Pat’s photographic works hang on the walls of the space, some robustly framed, while others are pinned or stuck directly to them. The photographic work of the show explores Pat’s own experiences with chronic illness, loss, gain, and their relationship to sexuality / fetishism.
Throughout the space, Corinna’s work has an architectural and sculptural presence – some as obvious as arranged sculptures on the floor, others barely noticeable – like latex visible underneath a large frame. In response to Pat’s own exploration of these themes, Corinna focuses on how form or elements of interior architecture can capture these changing relationships and boundaries.
Together, they form a show of glimpses of public and private, of intimacy and loss. Pat’s photographs look at the materiality of the body, in it’s temporality and trace, while Corinna’s work investigates architecture’s effect on movement, the absence of the body, and the undefined other therein.
Patrick McNabb is an artist primarily working with photography as well as performance, installation, and collaborative sculptures. He received his MFA from School of Visual Arts in 2016 and his BFA from New York University in 2014.
